Spider in Web Spun Across Frame, Curious and Beautiful Old Hungarian(?) Photo metal plate and with some nice bubbling

and with some nice bubbling to the old varnish on front

a number of which are held in the collections of the Vineyard Haven Library and Martha’s Vineyard Museum

Feels a bit like the 19th century predecessor of a Magic 8 ball

but close looking reveals that it is a marvelously executed collage

and a pretty great one I think

Photo metal plate and with some nice bubblingBased on the stamp on this one in purple ink at lower right I believe it is Hungarian; looks like it says Budapest to me. (And when this image was taken, Transylvania was still part of Hungary, which seems right for an image of a spider at the center of its web to me!) No explanation was this spinning of its web across this hanging frame a constructed situation, or a chance occupation of sorts? Whatever the case, a marvelous image, and just in time
